City Silence

Perception of City Silence

Peace in the city—often it seems nonexistent. Crowded streets, hustle and bustle, and constant noise are classic hallmarks of a metropolis.

In the City Silence project, I aimed to prove the opposite. Over the course of two weeks,

I gathered video footage, which culminated in a video installation that seeks to capture the tranquility, aesthetics, and beauty of Zurich—

a city often perceived as cold and gray during autumn and winter times. At the same time,

I invite the viewer to perceive the seemingly noisy city in a different light, to recognize its quiet moments, and to practice mindfulness. The sound for the installation was created in collaboration with Frederik Bauer.
